Translation Recordings' tenth digital release features a pair of sub-heavy, future-steppin' tunes from Jaybee and DBR (UK) that pay homage to the oldskool. On 'Dark Day's Night,' Jaybee gives the classic hoover/mentasm sound a modern twist, blending punchy drum grooves with echoing atmospheres to set the backdrop for a rolling, heavyweight bassline with hints of analogue distortion. Next, DBR (UK) craft an immersive and dream-like vibe on 'Trouble Soul,' whose stripped-back intro of low-octave pads and FX flow into a deep sub bass at the drop where oldskool pads drift in and out of the mix to give the track a proper throwback vibe from a fresh perspective.
